Duties of the Research Director position include:

• Project Identification and Development.
• Develop research priorities and issues.
• Develop potential projects and collaborate with researchers and consultants to develop and implement protocols.
• Develop and write project proposals for research and demonstrations on behalf of ICDC.
• Prepare and manage budgets for individual projects and demonstrations.

Field Research:

• Coordinate and carry out field activities including seeding, treatment application, plot maintenance, data collection, harvest, sample processing, etc.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure research is conducted according to protocols;.
• Analyze and interpret data and write reports or submit data to appropriate collaborators.
• Source land and off station sites as needed.
• Ensure quality of all plots through on-going field scouting and perform resulting maintenance as required.
• Develop and submit peer-reviewed manuscripts in collaboration with research personnel and collaborating sites.

Technology Transfer:

• Develop written reports, presentations, posters, factsheets, etc., keeping the intended audience in mind.
• Presentations at Field Days and other extension events.
• Coordinate with AAFC, Saskatchewan Agriculture Crop Specialists or commodity group representatives to ensure relevant information is available.
• Represent ICDC at various meetings as required.
• Work with all ICDC personnel to develop and carry out technology transfer events.

Agriculture Designations:

• Applicants must be registered with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists as defined by The Agrologists Act.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Master’s degree in Crop or Soil Science with combined years of experience.
• A Doctoral degree would be considered an asset. • In-depth knowledge and experience in western Canadian farming practices.
• Experience in a managerial capacity and strong leadership skills.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the research community as well as with producers.
• Expertise in experimental research design and statistical analyses.
• ARM (Agriculture Research Management) computer program knowledge is an asset.
• Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
• Knowledge and experience in field research with the ability to operate small plot equipment.
• Valid driver's license is also a requirement.

• Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
• The candidate must also be able to communicate effectively with the research community as well as with producers.

Salary and Working Conditions: Salary is based on education and experience.
Working hours are flexible with a minimum of a 37.5 hour week.

The candidate is expected to manage his/her own work schedule. There is no allowance for overtime pay.

The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to Outlook.
